I wanted to see how far I could glide from 3,500', set up for a landing without have to make a last-minute slip. Not really what I would do in a real emergency - just to see what the possibilities were. The Cherokee had plenty of legs, so I extended the pattern to see if I could clear the fence with just enough height to make an uphill landing on the freshly mown field.It worked out nicely, and I had a chance to return the wave from the guy on the tractor.
